Welcome to the ALIA Green community in Australia!
We are a group aiming to facilitate the networking of librarians who are interested in promoting the principles and practice of sustainability in all Australian libraries. It seeks to support the sharing of knowledge and ideas of environmental sustainability and sustainable practices and resources across all sections of the library sector. Follow us on Facebook & X.
We welcome all who are interested joining this group. Please see our Terms of Reference for more information on our purpose. In the coming months, Katalin Mindum (National Convenor) and I (Jack Kelly, National Secretary), will begin advertising for volunteer roles.
We are developing a range of resources that hope to be useful and inspirational for the library sector when starting a sustainability project. We plan to add to the list soon.
We also run the blog, a space where librarians and alike can share their perspectives. We are keen to spotlight ideas, designs, projects, initiatives and programmes happening across Australia. It’s important to acknowledge the past contributions made by individuals to the ALIA Green Group (formerly Sustainable Libraries). We thank our previous Co-Convenor Anne Reddacliff for serving the group, advocating ALIA Sustainable Libraries and connecting Sustainable Libraries members to information. ALIA Information Online 2025: Transformation & Disruption
We encourage all librarians and alike across the GLAMR sector passionate about greening libraries to submit a proposal which aligns with the overarching conference theme Transformation & Disruption. You can submit a proposal for the following session types: presentations, lighting talks, panels, and other. If you would like to submit a proposal for the Greening Libraries Sub-Theme, please submit through this online portal by September 13 September 2024.
